Venturing into the world of veganism (and healthy eating in general) has been made easy by the Green Bar Café over at West of Ayala. The plant-based café created by veteran vegetarians-turned-vegans (try saying that three times fast) Jaderani and Sarada Santos have taken it upon themselves flip the image of healthy eating to be just as enticing—if not more—than your typical meat-serving food establishments, and they’ve succeeded.

BBQ Tofu

BBQ Tofu (BBQ glazed pulled-tofu and creamy, cool, crunch slaw with a kick, served on a whole wheat roll) with Bayani Brew’s Sweet Potato Leaf. P180 per order and P60 per Bayani Brew drink.

Green Bar Café boasts an array of absolutely delectable, filling, yet guilt-free meals all the way from breakfast burritos to quinoa bowls, to donuts. Yes, vegan donuts are a thing, and they’re utterly divine.

Breakfast Burrito

Breakfast Burrito (Scrambled tofu, roasted potatoes, slightly sweet seitan sausage, baby spinach, and a creamy vegan mayo on 6” focaccia). P300 per burrito.

Hollywood Bowl

Hollywood Bowl (Healthy, delicious, protein rich and full of wholesome foods. Mixed greens, quinoa, chickpea salad, kidney beans, seasoned seitan, purple cabbage, tomato, faux feta, cheese, bacun, and creamy ranch dressing) and Bayani Brew’s Lemongrass Pandan Teatox. P350 per bowl and P60 per Bayani Brew drink.

Vegan Donuts

Vegan Donuts (Soft, chewy, and luscious donuts with flavors that never fail to delight). P70 per donut.

These two sisters prove that veganism isn’t a chore that people made it out to be, as well. Their philosophy of practicing healthy eating is rid of the painstaking diets or quitting meat cold turkey (pun intended). Instead, they adopt the habit of gradual integration plant-based meals onto whatever diet you already have. Slow and steady wins the race, after all, and you can still have that bacon in the morning! Whether you’re a diet novice or a born and raised vegan, Green Bar Café has got you covered in more ways than one.

Fire and Smoke (A spicy grilled cheese with chipotle creama, basil and vegan pepper jack cheese on perfectly grilled cubano bread.)

Fire and Smoke (A spicy grilled cheese with chipotle creama, basil and vegan pepper jack cheese on perfectly grilled cubano bread.) with a bottle of Sweet Potato Leaf teatox. P190 per cubano and P60 per Bayani Brew drink.

What better way to eat healthy without sacrificing the taste than by having a beverage counterpart to go with it? Pair your Cuban Burrito with a Bayani Brew teatox—we also pack a punch both ways: in flavor and in nutritional value—and indulge yourself in some healthy goodness.
